Will the Vampire Bride Series Retell Stoker's Dracula?

The three brides
This question was asked on Twitter today and I thought I would give a more in depth answer here.

The Vampire Bride series intersects with Bram Stoker's Dracula to some degree. Lady Glynis Wright is the fourth bride of Count Dracula.  Vlad Dracula, the three brides, and even the Erzsebet (aka The Countess Dolingen) were characters from Stoker's Dracula and in Dracula's Guest, but also have pivotal roles in THE TALE OF THE VAMPIRE BRIDE.

The Countess Dolingen of Gratz

In THE VENGEANCE OF THE VAMPIRE BRIDE and future books in the series, Bram Stoker's original characters make occasional appearances in the story, but are not central to the plot.  The Vampire Bride series isn't about Vlad Dracula and his many wives. It's about Glynis and her struggle to create a life for herself apart from her creator. Though Vlad Dracula's presence may cast a shadow over Glynis' world, he is not central to her life nor the plot of the series. As seen in the first two books in the series, Glynis is very good at creating a life apart from him. Also, even when Vlad had power over Glynis, he did not let her know what he was planning unless he needed her for a specific purpose.

Dracula at his castle
The events in Bram Stoker's Dracula do not include Glynis since she is my original character and there will be no alternate version of Stoker's Dracula from Glynis' viewpoint.  I am actually very aware of Glynis' life up until the early 1900's (her world runs about 100 years behind ours) and already know where she is during the events in Stoker's Dracula. She is nowhere near the castle, England or the events in the book.

That being said, the fates of the three sisters remains the same as in the original novel. As does the fate of Vlad Dracula. Van Helsing kills all three sisters and the vampire hunters stab Dracula through the heart. Erzsebet (The Countess Dolingen of Gratz in Styria) remains the same as in Dracula's Guest. Dracula kills with her with a lightning bolt. I have no intention of altering any of their fates.

A future book may overlap with the very end of Bram Stoker's Dracula, but Glynis will not be participating in the actual events of the book.
