excited! I’m almost breathless with excitement. Honestly, this is a freakin' dream come true for me and I can't even start to express my joy at being able to share this with you.

THE FIRST DAYS will be released in mass paperback on October 30, 2012 with all new artwork! When Tor sent me the artwork for the mass paperbacks in the early part of this year, I literally started to weep. I was so overcome with the sheer beauty of the artwork. Artist David Franklin is a fan of the series and it shows! I feel he perfectly captured Jenni and Katie in this new art piece. Also, doesn't it look like Texas? It just has that big open space feel. And you gotta give some love to that awesome zombie on the cover. Add in the truck sitting the background and it's perfection. To see more of his awesome artwork, click here. Though I did like the original cover art that Tor had for the trade paperback editions of the series, those were photoshopped stock images that probably a lot of you have already seen on other covers. It didn't have that "special" feel that the Detra covers had for the self-published versions. But the new artwork by David Franklin, which has been designed just for the AS THE WORLD DIES mass paperbacks, does have that extra magic! I just love it! What do you think? |
