Visitations from Old Friends-and Synopsis Still Suck

Every time someone finds out I write, the first question they ask is "What do you write about?"

Well, back when I started, I probably wouldn't have had a straight answer. I was all over the place. I loved Victorian Gothic romance, mysteries and science fiction. I tried to write a mystery, but found out I was terrible at it. I tried romance, but I just couldn't keep myself interested. Of course, this was all when I was a teenager! One of those false starts was the story about an American girl (Italian-American, of course) who marries a prince. What can I say? I'm a hopeless romantic at times.

I really haven't thought about her in such a long time, but she showed up in my dreams last night. I visited her country and was happy to see she and her Prince were doing well. I was an odd feeling to revisit that world. It was very peaceful at her royal palace and just kinda neat.

Meanwhile, I'm still slogging away at the synopsis for my novel. UGH. I hate it. I started rewriting, allowing the character's voice to seep into the narrative a bit more. It's hard to write a synopsis in third person when the novel is in first person.

For those of you wondering what its about. Remember I said I loved Victorian Gothic romance. Add the word horror in there and a feisty redheaded vampire. Someone likened it to Emily Bronte meets Hammer (horror films). I'll take that description.

And of course, I have the rewrite on my zombie epic. And I have a couple of outlines for a sci-fi tale and three other horror novels that want to be fleshed out.

I wish I had more time to write. *sigh*

But first, must concentrate on the synopsis!

  1. Hey there!
This really doesn't have anything to do with your post, but wow...
I really don't know where to start, but I hope you read through all this.
I just read "As The World Dies"
The whole thing. And honestly... It was great.
I just stumbled into the writing site by mistake, and for some reason I started reading your story, and I just couldnt stop.
Mind you I'm a regular guy that obviously doesn't read/write too much (hello spellcheck), but wow, I was just speechless when I was done reading the book.
It was great, and I feel like I should thank you for all the time you took to write it.
